Potensi tsunami pasca Gempa Gorontalo ada di Pantai Utara Gorontalo

GORONTALO,SENIN--Gempa kembali mengguncang wilayah Indonesia. Setelah Yogyakarta dan Bengkulu, gempa juga mengguncang kota Gorontalo, Sulawesi Tenggara, Senin (17/11) pukul 00:02:32.

Menurut Badan Meteorologi dan Geofisika (BMG), gempa berkekuatan 7,7 Skala Richter (SR) itu terjadi pada 138 kilometer baratlaut Gorontalo pada kedalaman 10 km dan berpotensi terjadinya tsunami.

Gempa bumi di Gorontalo dinihari ini yang terjadi secara berurutan,terletak pada 1.41 LU - 122.18 BT sekitar 138 kilometer barat laut kota Gorontalo pada pukul 00.02.32 detik WIB Magnitute pada kedalaman 10 kilometer yang disusul gempa berikut pada pukul 00.34.38 WIB terletak pada 1.45 LU - 122.10 BT dengan magnitude 6.0 SR pada kedalaman 30 km, kedua-duanya berpotensi tsunami. Dengan melihat letak titik gempa (epicenter) yang berada di daerah dasar laut yang kurang dari kedalaman 40 km dengan jarak kurang dari 1000 km dari daerah pantai utara, seyogyanya kewaspadaan terhadap tsunami di daerah ini (terutama yang bermukin di daerah pesisir utara) mesti diperhatikan

(CNN) — The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Sunday there was the potential for a destructive Tsunami after a powerful earthquake rattled parts of Indonesia.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 7.5-magnitude quake was centered 135 km (85 miles) northwest of Gorontalo, Sulawesi, Indonesia and 305 km (190 miles) west of Manado, Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was 1890 km (1170 miles) east-northeast of Jakarta.

“This earthquake has the potential to generate a destructive regional tsunami along coasts located within 1000 km of the earthquake epicenter,” the warning center said. “Authorities in that region should be aware of this possibility and take immediate action to evacuate coastal areas.”

Gorontalo area of Sulawesi island was struck with a magnitude 7.7 quake at a depth of 6.2 miles, the agency has said.

Afterwards, another second quake struck 6.0 magnitude in northern Sulawesi.
Indonesia launched a hi-tech system on Tuesday to detect a forthcoming tsunami.

Some 17,000 islands lies in the ‘Pacific Ring of Fire’.
The place was hit by a strong and destructive tsunami four years ago which killed thousands and many were missing.
