Gorontalo, (ANTARA News) - Flash floods, which were triggered by incessant rains, inundated hundreds of houses in several villages, in Boalemo District, Gorontalo Province, on Saturday.
The flood-hit villages included Potanga, Tutulo, Mohungo, Limbato, Lohumbo, West Pentadu, and East Pentadu.
The floodwaters reached a height of between 40 centimeters and 1.5 meters, Wirda Nihali, a local resident, said.
The flooding also cut off several roads which were submerged up to 45 cm high.
Some flood victims were forced to evacuate to hilly areas. They blamed forest degradation for the floods in Boalemo District.(*)
